Surrender is noticing thoughts, allowing the thoughts to be—because they are—not judging them as good or bad, and then noticing what the thoughts appear in. Noticing where the thoughts arise from. Being aware of the source of thought, and giving attention to that.
Surrender is being present in life, doing what’s needed, dealing with events as they occur, but not being identified as the individual who is doing the doing. Noticing that activity is happening at this location, associated with this physical form, but also aware of the Presence that is deeper than the identification as the individual. Giving some of one's attention to that Presence, that which is unmoving, silent, awake, aware, and opening to allow that mysterious Presence to be the doer; to act from that.
Surrender is the moment to moment noticing of what’s here. The external physical world, plants, animals, objects, earth, sun, moon, stars. People, people’s stuff, people’s projections, people’s emotions, people’s pain, people’s joy, people’s suffering. In the noticing, while staying connected to the depth of Peace and Silence in one's self, the Beingness of everything is evident. The realization that the Beingness of me is not separate from the Beingness of everything external to me allows the world to rush into my heart, no separation.
Surrender is the moment to moment noticing of what’s here internally as well. Physical sensations in the body. Energy in the body. Emotions. Thoughts. Distracting thoughts. Seeing deeply that these internal objects are no different from external objects, and are also composed of Beingness. Arising out of the source of everything, existing for some time, then dying back into the source, into Emptiness. Noticing no separation between the internal and the external, and the noticing the background, the space which holds it all.
Surrender is not moving in response to thoughts, however convincing, in the mind. Staying true to one's true nature, to Silence. Resting in the source, as that mysterious source, unmoved by external circumstances or inner phenomena. Dropping deeply into the mystery, into the quiet emptiness of no mind. Open, awake, aware, alert, ready. Ready to serve the Beloved. Forever a servant of Love . . .
